See Harajuku’s neon dreamscape reborn underground at Kawaii Monster Land. The follow-up to the wildly popular Kawaii Monster Café, this new entertainment complex brings back “kawaii chaos” energy — this time with rides, games, and even bigger performances.

Kawaii Monster Café

Kawaii Monster Café was an icon of Harajuku’s peak kawaii era. When the café closed in 2021, fans were left mourning the loss.

Now, the story continues. Slated to open in winter 2025, Kawaii Monster Land Harajuku promises to channel that same energy into something larger: an underground amusement park, erupting from the basement of Takeshita Street Square.

Spend a day exploring Mount Fuji and the area around it with this private, fully customizable tour - from all around Kawaguchiko Lake and up to the Mount Fuji Fifth Station.

What to expect

The new venue will span over 400 square metres. It is being produced by globally renowned artist Sebastian Masuda, pioneer of Harajuku’s kawaii culture, ensuring continuity with the original’s DNA.

Expect the return of the Monster Girls and their live shows, but also attractions that move beyond the café format: sweets-themed rides, interactive games, and elaborate food designed for both taste and spectacle.

How to get there

Kawaii Monster Land will open directly on Takeshita Street, a two-minute walk from JR Harajuku Station. It sits underground in the basement of Takeshita Street Square, a space that once housed Harajuku Alta.
