A sickly sweet party to celebrate the original opening of one of Harajuku’s most iconic establishments.

What to expect

Kawaii Monster Café was a game-changer when it first opened in 2015. Its blend of kawaii excess and psychedelic surrealism drew over 700,000 visitors from the time it opened until its untimely demise in 2021.

Everything from its giant cake-shaped Sweets-Go-Round centerpiece, pastel-colored tentacles, neon-lit bar, and OTT menu items to its extravagant burlesque nights and drag queen performances screamed kawaii excess. This August, Shinjuku ni-chōme’s Aisotope Lounge will be invoking the kawaii khaos of Kawaii Monster Cafe for one night only.
