What happens?

From October 1 to November 3, 2025, a bold new international performing arts festival will take place centered around the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in Ikebukuro.

Under the artistic direction of acclaimed playwright and director Toshiki Okada (chelfitsch), the festival launches with a mission to create new works, promote artists globally, and foster the next generation of performing arts talent.

Explore 14 performance programs from Japan and abroad, eight non-performance programs including lectures and workshops, and three “Hello and Welcome” initiatives ensuring accessibility and inclusivity.

With its diverse lineup, the festival invites visitors to engage with contemporary performing arts that reflect our world today. It also creates opportunities for awareness of different realities and to reconsider our world through fresh perspectives.

For performance programs, Japanese and/or English surtitles are displayed above the stage. Some productions may also provide surtitles in additional languages.

In front of the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Welcome Galaxy offers a place to rest and relax, find information such as same-day ticket availability, and enjoy food and drinks curated in collaboration with the theatre’s vendors and Autumn Meteorite.
