What is KIWL?
Knights In White Lycra (KIWL) is a Japan-based voluntary organization that does charity fundraising for disadvantaged kids in Japan through participatory sports events such as cycling, running, and golf.
What happens?
The KIWL Go-Go is an annual charity running and walking event that started in 2017.
In November, runners are invited to complete a marathon’s worth of distance across the month, with the option to join an in-person run along the Tamagawa River. Both challenges are flexible — you can log activities anytime, anywhere, through Strava.
Schedule
The KIWL 500:5000 Cycling Challenge runs throughout October 2025, inviting riders to complete 500km or climb 5,000m during the month.
In November 2025, the KIWL Run Challenge takes place, with participants aiming to cover a marathon distance of 42km.
As part of this, an in-person run will be held along the Tamagawa River on Sunday, November 9, 2025, offering a range of distances for all ability levels.
You’ll also be entered into a raffle for some amazing prices.
Entry and donations
This year, KIWL’s chosen charity is Mirai no Mori, an NPO that creates life-changing outdoor programs for abused, neglected, and orphaned youths in Japan, supporting their growth into happy and successful young adults.
The event on November 9 varies in price. It costs ¥2,000 for high school students and below, ¥3,000 for university students, and ¥5,000 for adults.
